Directors
Bill Colosimo

Bill Colosimo was named Music Director of the exciting mixed-voice adult show choir, The Alexandria Singers, on January 1, 2007.  Mr. Colosimo is a passionate and experienced vocal music performer, educator, coach, clinician, and choral director, with over 40 years of active professional engagement in the vocal arts.  Trained at Cranbrook (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) and Brandeis University in vocal music and choral direction, Mr. Colosimo has produced, performed in, or directed over 200 professional or educational vocal music programs and workshops all over the East Coast, particularly in the Washington, DC, area, including such venues as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Constitution Hall, Lisner Auditorium, Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, the National Mall, countless places of worship, and Georgetown and Salisbury Universities, as well as major concert venues like RFK Stadium, the Patriot Center, the Verizon (formerly MCI) Center, and convention centers nationwide. 

In addition to his duties as Music Director for The Singers, he is also currently Musical Director of the acclaimed 50-man, 60-year-old Singing Capital Chorus, a men’s a cappella ensemble.  A sought-after clinician, workshop leader, and ensemble coach, Bill’s passion for music education and vocal performance for children and teenagers prompted his establishment of the Choral Foundation of Northern Virginia and its performing entity, the “Young Voices of Hope”, in 2005.  He is currently the Foundation’s Founder and Artistic Director.  He serves (or has served) on numerous boards and advisory committees dedicated to vocal music activity, including the Arlington Arts Commission and the Curriculum Committee for the Diocese of Arlington. 

Mr. Colosimo is a member of MENC - the National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and numerous nationwide men’s vocal music organizations, in which he holds committee chair posts dedicated to education and choral director development.  He is a member of the President’s Council of the Harmony Foundation, headquartered in Chicago, dedicated to funding vocal music education and performance for youth.  He currently keeps his own tenor voice active as a professional soloist and cantor in the area.  Mr. Colosimo and his family live in Arlington, Virginia.  He can be reached by e-mail at billcatps@aol.com or by phone at 571-213-7376.

LindaHemphill

Linda was a charter member of The Singers and has served as President, Performance Vice-president, Assistant Music Director, Accompanist, and Music Captain. A native of Richmond, Linda is a 1966 graduate of The American University (Washington, DC), with a BA in International Relations. On December 31, 2009, she retired after 31 and a half years as Director of Publications for the International and American Associations for Dental Research, headquartered in Alexandria. She founded and is President of Hemphill Editing, LLC, (www.hemphillediting.com) and is a freelance copyeditor for SAGE Publications (Thousand Oaks, CA), as well as a staff editor for ScienceDocs.com. She also has over 43 years' experience in church music, and (since April, 1998) is the Director of Music/Organist at Bethany Lutheran Church in Alexandria, where she directs two handbell choirs and two singing choirs. She is a passionate Washington Capitals fan, and confesses devotion to "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance".

Reedy

Karen grew up in the Washington, DC, area and received a BFA in Dance from George Mason University at the age of 19. In Washington, she performed with Eric Hampton Dance and DC Dance Theater, among others, as well as performing and staging her own choreography. In New York, she has danced with Robert Battle, Sue Bernhard, Patricia Kenny, and Louis Johnson, and she continues to perform frequently with the Mark Morris Dance Group. Ms. Reedy has staged the work of Eric Hampton and has assisted such choreographers as Ji?í Kylián, Hans van Mannen, Robert Battle, and Nacho Duato, at the Juilliard School. She has been a guest teaching artist at Northern Illinois University and George Mason University, and she currently teaches at the Mark Morris Dance Center. Her choreography has been seen throughout the New York and Washington, DC, areas, in venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Dance Place, Joyce Soho, and the Cosmopolitan Club.
